Client Case Study: Kendons Chartered Accountants

We love to share the stories behind the work of Intentional Generations! Jen worked with Kendons Chartered Accountants between November 2019 - June 2020 and provided a range of customised wellbeing services to suit their needs.

Testimonial from Kendons Chartered Accountants' Chief Executive, Michael Markham, about working with Jennifer Young from Intentional Generations in 2019 and 2020.

Michael (Chief Executive) & Liz (Office Manager) were recommended to Jen when they were experiencing challenges relating to stress/resilience of their “early-in-careers”, culture and wellbeing.

Jen recommended starting with a series of workshops to assess the reality of the organisational culture and get suggestions from the wider team about how the culture and wellbeing could be improved at different levels.

Note: “early-in-careers” are those typically in their first 5-7 years of their careers.

Using the Emotional Culture Deck as a conversation starter, Jen facilitated three workshops

  1. With the leadership team: how did they as a team want to be operating, and then what were their thoughts & assumptions on the team and their ideas of how the culture could improve.

  2. With the wider team (35 people) - what enabled them to individually thrive at work and what enabled them as a wider team to thrive.

  3. Reporting back to the leadership team on the wider insights + recommendations + leadership team committing to the 5 critical actions.

The Emotional Culture Deck is a simple yet powerful and flexible tool for creating face-to-face conversations about culture and leadership within any organisation or team. It will help you drive bottom-up change in your workplace. Only the Emotional Culture Deck is simple enough to get up and running in minutes, yet powerful and flexible enough to drive lasting organisational change.

Jen’s services were also used on a “retainer-type-arrangement” for 1/2 day per fortnight where she would physically come into the Kendons office environment and meet with Liz (office manager) to coach her on wellbeing/culture integration, creating a wellbeing strategy and navigating wellbeing/culture/early-in-career development challenges. These 1/2 day sessions were put on hold due to Covid-19 lockdowns being implemented.

The work done by the Kendons team & Jen enabled a solid framework and understanding for the transition to lockdown being seamless + solid team connection.
